Nine Energy and NewGen have developed a new 15,000 PSI liner hanger designed to eliminate a critical weakness in traditional hydraulic hangers used in refracturing operations. Traditional liner hanger pistons, sealed by O-rings, are vulnerable to bursting under high pressure, especially in depleted wells where low formation pressure offers no external support. As a result, frac crews often have to reduce pressure, sacrificing performance, or avoid certain wells entirely due to risk.
The new design removes potential leak paths and allows higher frac pressures to significantly improve refrac efficiency. It also opens the door to refrac previously sidelined wells by eliminating the risk of piston failure.
